Your new company

Amey is looking for a skilled joiner to join our team at HMP Manchester on a temporary basis. This is a hands-on role where you’ll play a key part in maintaining and improving the prison estate, ensuring a safe and functional environment for staff and residents. You’ll be responsible for delivering a range of joinery and carpentry tasks, working as part of a multi-skilled team in a secure and rewarding setting.

Your new role

  • Carry out planned and reactive joinery maintenance and repairs.
  • Install and repair doors, windows, furniture, and other wooden fixtures.
  • Ensure all work is completed to a high standard and in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with other trades and prison staff.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and tidy condition.

What you'll need to succeed

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry & Joinery or equivalent qualification.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally in a commercial or public sector environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work in a secure environment.
  • Must pass enhanced security clearance.
