Interim IT Technician for High school in Sunderland

You will be part of a wider Technical Services Team, working collaboratively with experienced engineers who share a passion for delivering outstanding support across the Trust.
They are looking for an Interim IT Technician to start ASAP for a couple of months. The hours will be Monday-Friday 0800–1600 onsite. Your new role
As an IT Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining, supporting, and developing IT services across the school. You will provide both proactive and reactive technical support, ensuring that all staff and students can access the systems and equipment they need. Your responsibilities will include:
- Installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware including PCs, laptops, printers, scanners, whiteboards, and projectors.
- Supporting the school’s VoIP system and troubleshooting PC and server hardware.
- Installing and testing software, ensuring anti‑virus and updates are applied appropriately.
- Carrying out routine network management tasks, liaising closely with the wider technical team.
- Maintaining accurate asset and software records.
- Providing high‑quality customer service, offering advice and guidance to staff and students on the safe and effective use of IT.
- Ensuring IT facilities are well maintained and ready for use at all times.
- Playing an active role in supporting ongoing projects and contributing to continuous improvement across the Trust’s IT function.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience supporting a range of ICT systems, including PCs, laptops, iPads, Windows 10, Windows Server, Office 365, cloud technologies, and school MIS systems.
- Strong practical skills in hardware and software troubleshooting.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff and students.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workload in a busy environment.
- A proactive approach, with the ability to problem‑solve and adapt quickly to changing demands.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a wider technical team.
- Experience working in an educational setting is desirable.
