A Multi Academy Trust is seeking an IT Technician to join their team, based at a secondary school in Rochdale.

This multi-academy trust has 9 schools as part of their family, and they are seeking an IT Technician to join their team based at a secondary school in Rochdale. The trust has an excellent reputation in North Manchester, with high-performing academies, and it is therefore important that the right individuals are appointed to ensure the success of the trust. The IT Director has approached looking to expand their central IT team of 11 by appointing an IT Technician to join the established team.
Your new role
Reporting to the Assistant IT Director, you will be responsible for providing a high level of IT support across this secondary school, and also supporting 4 local primary schools working as an integral part of this central IT team. Duties will include:
- Provide first-line technical support to staff and students for hardware, software, and network issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain computers, printers, interactive whiteboards, and other classroom technology.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and passwords in line with school policies.
- Monitor and maintain the school’s network infrastructure, including Wi-Fi and internet connectivity.
- Ensure data security and compliance with GDPR and safeguarding requirements.
- Perform routine maintenance, updates, and backups of systems and devices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems promptly to minimise disruption to teaching and learning.
- Assist with the setup and support of AV equipment for assemblies, events, and presentations.
- Maintain accurate records of IT assets, repairs, and service requests.
- Liaise with external suppliers and service providers when necessary.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this position, you will have a passion for IT and deliver a high level of customer service, ensuring that end-user issues are resolved efficiently. Strong communication skills and relationship building skills are also essential, as well as an interest in working in the education sector. As this role will require you to be based at different sites in the Rochdale area, you must possess a UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle.
