IT Support Technician in Education
Your new company
A well-regarded education organisation has partnered with Hays to recruit an interim IT Technician to start immediately until Christmas break. You'll be joining a supportive and friendly IT department consisting of over 10 dedicated professionals, reporting directly to the Head of IT. This is a full-time, on-site role, working five days a week.
Your new role
As an IT Technician, you’ll play a key role in delivering 1st and 2nd line helpdesk support across the organisation. You’ll be responsible for resolving hardware and software issues, supporting users across the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN), and ensuring the smooth operation of IT services.
- Provide 1st and 2nd line technical support to staff and students, assisting with IT-related queries and troubleshooting.
- Deliver excellent customer service, maintaining a proactive and professional approach to all support requests.
- Respond to hardware and software issues, escalating complex problems to senior team members when necessary.
- Log and manage support tickets using the organisation’s call logging system.
- Monitor and analyse helpdesk activity to identify trends and suggest improvements.
- Collaborate effectively with team members to meet service targets and maintain high standards of IT Support.
What you'll need to succeed
- Previous experience in an IT support role (experience in the education sector is advantageous)
- A relevant IT qualification
- An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- A logical and methodical approach to problem-solving
