IT Senior Officer role at Housing Ombudsman Service

The Housing Ombudsman Service provides independent, impartial and fair dispute resolution for nearly 5 million households in England. Through resolving disputes effectively and promoting positive change across the social housing sector, we improve residents’ lives and landlords’ services.

Digital, Data & Technology at The Housing Ombudsman Service is on an exciting journey, laying the foundations for a digital transformation that will enhance how we deliver fairness and accountability across the housing sector. We’re building smarter systems, harnessing data, and creating tools that enable our people to resolve disputes efficiently and transparently.

As IT Senior Officer, you will play a key role within the Corporate Information & Governance function, delivering all aspects of IT technical support to ensure our people have the tools, platforms, and hardware they need. You’ll provide expert advice on IT risk management, system, data, and cybersecurity, and support the IT Team Manager as required. You’ll help maintain a secure, fit-for-purpose environment, contribute to disaster recovery and business continuity planning, and act as an escalation point for incidents and technical issues.

This is an 18-month fixed term contract.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Provide expert technical support and advice for key business systems.
  • Ensure system security, effectiveness, and compliance with policies.
  • Lead and resolve complex IT incidents and support disaster recovery planning.
  • Contribute to cybersecurity initiatives and risk management.
  • Mentor junior team members and maintain SharePoint information management.

Experience:
  • Demonstrable experience of operating in IT systems support roles
  • Proven experience handling complex IT incidents, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Expertise in Azure, Microsoft 365, Intune, and troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (e.g. NIST, ISO 27001, CIS).
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.

We offer:
  • A salary of £53,948 per annum
  • 25 days paid holiday (rising with service),
  • plus Christmas closure days and public holidays
  • Remote working with offices available in London & Flexitime working scheme
  • Opportunity to join the Local Government pension scheme
  • Enhanced Maternity/Paternity and Adoption leave
