Growing multi academy trust seeking an IT Field Engineer to support schools in Bury & surrounding areas.

Your new role
Reporting to the Head of IT, you will be joining an established central IT team who work collectively to ensure a high level of IT support is provided at all times across all schools and to all staff and pupils. You will be responsible for responding to technical issues and resolving them effectively, ensuring the infrastructure is maintained to a high standard and carrying out all planned IT projects efficiently, with the support of the wider IT team. The Field IT Engineer will provide responsive 1st and 2nd line on-site technical support to staff and students across designated schools, ensuring that day‑to‑day IT issues are resolved efficiently and effectively, which includes troubleshooting a wide range of hardware, software, network and peripheral problems on both Windows-based devices and Chromebooks. You will carry out routine maintenance tasks such as updates, patching and system monitoring to maintain the reliability and security of school IT systems and the role also involves supporting bespoke educational technologies including projectors, interactive boards and audio‑visual equipment to ensure smooth delivery of teaching and learning. You will also assist with the deployment and setup of new equipment, including imaging and configuration to support the continuous refresh and improvement of IT resources. In addition, you will maintain accurate and detailed records of all work carried out using the Trust’s service desk platform and under the guidance of senior engineers, they will support elements of the network and server infrastructure, such as switches, access points and server rooms. Please note, this is a field-based role where you will be on site 5 days a week working across different schools in Bury & East Lancashire.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in securing this position, you must have experience providing IT support in an educational setting, whether that be a school, college, multi academy trust or educational MSP. You must possess a valid UK driving licence, as well as have your own vehicle and be able to travel to different sites. You will have strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, with a proactive approach to providing a high level of IT service to end users, ensuring all issues are resolved efficiently.
