Exciting Contract Role: IT Expert / Principal Consultant – Derby
Join a leading independent technology and services provider as an IT Expert Principal.
Job Overview:
Location:Derby
Contract: 12thJan’26 – 6th Feb’26
Mandatory check: SC Clearance
Pay Rates:
Umbrella Rate:£500-600/day (via a Hays approved umbrella company).
Hours:37.5 hours a week. Monday – Friday.
Time:9:00 AM – 5:30 PM
HPC Containerisation: HPC Expert
Principal Consultant Skill Set and Knowledge Domain
Must Have:
- SC clearance
- No Dual Single National
- No OCI
- Experience of using Beowulf clusters
- Excellent knowledge of: Slurm Job Scheduling
- Knowledgeable of best practices for MPI-optimized container images, including:
- OpenMPI with Apptainer (SIF)
- Podman/Buildah tooling
- And other alternatives
Desirable:
- The ability to conduct interviews with the customer staff covering the following areas:
- Current infrastructure & use cases of HPC.
- Containerisation capabilities workshop and discussion of typical HPC/ML workloads Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including
- Jupyter ecosystem (Hubs/Labs/Notebooks) for Data Scientists workflows
- MPI
Nice to have:
Knowledge of:
- The ability to collation of findings for presentation in a written report covering:
- Market view of container technologies and options for HPC Use Cases
- Singularity
- SIF format
- HPC Workflows
- Experience in CFD software such as OpenFOAM.
- Docker
- Kubernetes as HPC runtime environment
- Run: AI and GPU slicing,
Key Requirements:
Candidates must be active SC cleared
