Internal Communications Specialist / 3 days Per Week / £400 - £450 Per Day

Your new company
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a large, nationally recognised UK charity during a pivotal moment of transformation. With a strong purpose at its core, the organisation is committed to making a meaningful impact while evolving how it operates internally to better support its people and long-term strategy.

As part of a significant organisational change programme, the charity is reshaping its pay structure to create a more streamlined, inclusive, and less hierarchical organisation. This transformation sits at the heart of its people strategy and requires thoughtful, transparent, and high-quality communication to ensure success.

You will be joining a collaborative and forward-thinking internal communications team, working alongside senior leaders and HR specialists to deliver communications that truly make a difference.

Your new role
As Internal Communications Specialist, you will play a key role in leading the tactical delivery of communications for a major organisational change programme. This is a hands-on role where you will bring strategy to life through compelling content and effective engagement.

You will:
  • Develop and deliver end-to-end internal communications plans aligned to programme milestones.
  • Translate complex people and organisational change messages into clear, engaging communications
  • Partner closely with HR/People teams and senior leadership to ensure messaging is accurate, consistent, and empathetic.
  • Create high-impact content including staff briefings, FAQs, intranet content, leadership toolkits, newsletters, and presentations
  • Support leaders to effectively communicate change through briefings and communication materials
  • Deliver communications across a range of channels, including digital platforms, email, and leadership cascades
  • Contribute to building trust and engagement by addressing sensitive topics such as pay and organisational structure changes
  • Monitor engagement and feedback, using insights to continuously improve communications
This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of internal communications, HR transformation, and organisational change within a purpose-driven environment.

What you'll need to succeed
To thrive in this role, you will bring a blend of strategic thinking and hands-on delivery, alongside strong stakeholder engagement skills.

You will ideally have:
  • Proven experience in internal communications, ideally in large or complex organisations
  • Demonstrable experience supporting change or transformation programmes (e.g., restructuring, organisational design, or pay/reward changes)
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences
  • Experience working closely with HR/People teams on sensitive communications
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work with senior leaders
  • A proactive, organised, and detail-oriented approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Desirable experience includes:

  • Background in the charity or not-for-profit sector
  • Understanding of pay frameworks, job evaluation, or reward structures

Most importantly, you will be empathetic, adaptable, and passionate about employee experience, with a genuine desire to support people through change.

What you'll get in return
This role is offered on a 9-month temporary assignment.
Part-time, 3 days per week
£400 - £450 Per Day
