Interim Procurement Specialist | Competitive Rates | 6-Month Contract | Flexible & Hybrid working

Your new role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Interim Procurement Specialist to join a centrally led procurement function during a period of significant growth and transformation. This role will support a high-performing team working on high-value, high-risk procurement activity across a diverse range of indirect categories including marketing, IT, financial services, and facilities.

The successful candidate will play a key role in managing complex tenders and contracts, supporting strategic sourcing initiatives, and driving robust supplier relationship management (SRM). You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders and legal colleagues to ensure procurement governance, due diligence, and risk management are delivered to a high standard, while also contributing to the development of procurement capability across the wider team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supporting multiple concurrent procurement projects across indirect spend categories
  • Managing end-to-end procurement processes, from scoping and market engagement to negotiation and contract award
  • Collaborating with legal teams on complex contractual matters and ensuring compliance with internal governance
  • Driving supplier performance and relationship management, including challenging vendors and stakeholders where necessary
  • Supporting the development of procurement frameworks and processes, particularly in response to increased workload and new product lines
  • Mentoring and coaching junior team members, sharing best practice and procurement expertise
  • Contributing to strategic initiatives such as cybersecurity, due diligence and spend threshold reviews

This role requires a confident and adaptable procurement professional who can operate across strategic and operational levels. You’ll be comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, including the Chief Executive, and navigating sensitive supplier relationships in a culture that values collaboration and long-standing partnerships.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Proven experience in indirect procurement, ideally across multiple categories
  • Strong understanding of complex procurement and contract management
  • Demonstrated ability to manage supplier relationships and lead negotiations
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with competing priorities
  • Sector background is flexible; transferable skills and procurement expertise are key.
  • Experience in financial services is advantageous but not essential.

What you'll get in return
This is a hybrid role with flexibility, typically requiring 1–2 days per week in the North Yorkshire office. The contract is initially for 6 months, with potential for extension or transition to a permanent role. The position is to start ASAP, with day rates negotiable based on experience.
