Interim Procurement Manager with a public-sector organisation in Manchester City Centre (with hybrid working)

Your new company
A reputable public-sector organisation in the heart of Manchester City Centre are seeking an experienced Procurement Manager / Category Manager to join their team for a period of roughly 4-6 months to support with a number of contract renewals and tenders.

Your new role
As Procurement Manager, you will lead and deliver a varied pipeline of procurement activity, covering multiple categories but with a strong emphasis on professional services, consultancy and IT-related spend. You’ll manage a range of contract renewals, re‑tenders and competitive procurement exercises, ensuring all activity is planned, compliant and aligned to organisational and regulatory requirements.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, you’ll shape scopes of work, advise on procurement routes, and run end‑to‑end tender processes in line with PA23 and public sector best practice. You’ll analyse existing contracts, identify risks and opportunities, and ensure continuity and value for money across key services. This is a hands‑on role with no line management responsibilities, ideal for someone confident operating independently within a public sector setting.

Please note this organisation has a hybrid working policy, meaning you can work between 2-3 days per week from home (depending on business need).

What you'll need to succeed
  • Strong background in public sector procurement across a broad range of categories within the professional / corporate services area
  • Experience leading tenders within professional services and/or IT
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge and practical experience of the Procurement Act 2023 (PA23)
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and work autonomously
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and stakeholder management skills
  • MCIPS qualification is desirable but not essential

What you'll get in return
  • £350–£500 per day (inside IR35) depending on relevant experience
  • 4–6 month interim contract
  • Hybrid working in Manchester City Centre (3 days in the office, 2 days working from home)
