Interim Procurement Business Partner

A well-established public sector organisation undergoing a period of strategic transformation is seeking an experienced Procurement Business Partner to support key directorates. Operating within a complex, regulated environment, the organisation is committed to driving value for money, improving service delivery, and embedding best‑practice procurement across its operations. You will join a collaborative and mission‑led team, where procurement is recognised as a critical enabler of organisational improvement.
Your new role
As a Procurement Business Partner, you will act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, leading end‑to‑end strategic sourcing activity across a specific spend portfolio. You will provide expert commercial guidance, ensuring compliance with UK Public Contract Regulations while shaping category strategies that deliver efficiency, sustainability, and strong commercial outcomes.
- Leading complex procurement exercises, from early market engagement through to contract award.
- Supporting directorates in planning and prioritising procurement pipelines.
- Providing commercial and contractual advice to influence decision‑making.
- Developing category strategies aligned with organisational priorities.
- Managing supplier relationships and driving continuous improvement.
- Producing clear, compliant documentation including specifications, evaluation criteria, and contract schedules.
- Coaching colleagues on procurement policy, procedures, and best practice.
What you'll need to succeed
- Strong experience operating in a public sector procurement environment, ideally within a complex, multi‑stakeholder organisation.
- Excellent understanding of UK Public Contract Regulations i.e PA23/PCR15 and strategic sourcing methodologies.(Essential)
- Proven ability to act as a business partner – engaging, influencing, and challenging senior stakeholders.
- Experience managing end‑to‑end procurement across a category.
- Strong analytical, commercial, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work autonomously, prioritise competing demands, and deliver high‑quality outcomes at pace.
- MCIPS qualification (or working towards) is highly desirable.
