Your new company

A leading multinational engineering consultancy delivering complex infrastructure and construction projects across the UK & Ireland is seeking a seasoned Legal Counsel. This short-term contract offers the opportunity to contribute to high-profile developments within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Your new role

You’ll provide strategic legal support across non-contentious construction matters, working closely with commercial, technical, and operational teams. The role suits a mid-senior lawyer with deep experience in construction law and the ability to operate autonomously across a range of project types.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising on procurement strategies and construction documentation
  • Drafting and negotiating JCT, NEC, FIDIC, IChemE, and bespoke contracts
  • Supporting project teams with contract interpretation, risk management, and compliance
  • Liaising with external counsel and internal stakeholders
  • Assisting with governance and approvals processes

What you'll need to succeed

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

Essential:

  • Qualified solicitor with extensive post-qualification experience in non-contentious construction law (5+ as a guideline)

  • Strong working knowledge of industry-standard contracts (JCT, NEC, FIDIC, etc.)

  • Proven ability to work independently and manage complex stakeholder relationships

Desirable:

  • In-house experience, particularly within a consultancy or contractor environment

  • Infrastructure or engineering sector experience

What you'll get in return

  • Competitive day rate aligned with experience (inside IR35)

  • Hybrid working (2-3 days in Victoria)

  • Immediate start | 3-month contract

  • Opportunity to work on impactful infrastructure projects within a respected global consultancy
