Interim IT Support for a High School

Your new company

A secondary school is seeking an Interim IT Technician to provide essential cover for a long-term absence. The school places a strong focus on digital learning and relies heavily on its IT services, particularly during busy periods such as examinations. You will be joining a supportive environment and working closely alongside an existing IT Technician to ensure continuity of service across the school.
The school operates as a Microsoft-based environment, supporting staff and students with modern technologies to enhance teaching and learning.

Your new role

As Interim IT support, you will play a key role in the day-to-day support and maintenance of the school’s IT systems, ensuring minimal disruption during a critical academic period. Responsibilities will include:
  • Providing first and second-line IT support to staff and students
  • Supporting Microsoft 365 applications, user accounts and devices
  • Assisting with the maintenance of school networks, hardware and peripherals
  • Troubleshooting hardware, software and connectivity issues
  • Supporting exam-related IT requirements and ensuring systems are reliable during exam periods
  • Managing and responding to helpdesk requests in a timely manner
  • Working collaboratively with the existing IT Technician to maintain a high level of service
This is a temporary interim role initially until the end of July, with working hours of 08:30 – 15:30, Monday to Friday.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Previous experience working as an IT Technician or IT Support Officer in education
  • Experience supporting Microsoft-based environments (including Microsoft 365)
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, software and networks
  • The ability to work calmly and effectively in a busy school setting
  • Strong communication skills and a professional, approachable manner
  • An Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
