Your new role
As a Housing Litigation Lawyer, you will provide expert legal advice and representation on a wide range of housing-related matters. This is a varied and challenging role where you’ll work closely with housing officers, enforcement teams, and external counsel to deliver cost-effective solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct and manage housing litigation, including possession proceedings, injunctions, and anti-social behaviour cases.
Draft pleadings, witness statements, and represent the authority in county courts and tribunals.
Advise on tenancy enforcement, homelessness decisions, allocations, and statutory compliance.
Handle disrepair claims and liaise with internal housing teams to resolve issues efficiently.
Negotiate settlements and explore alternative dispute resolution where appropriate.
What you'll need to succeed
E&W-qualified solicitor or barrister with strong housing litigation experience (5+ years as a guideline).
Excellent drafting and advocacy skills with attention to detail.
Ability to manage a varied caseload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Local authority experience is desirable but not essential.
