Your new role

As a Housing Litigation Lawyer, you will provide expert legal advice and representation on a wide range of housing-related matters. This is a varied and challenging role where you’ll work closely with housing officers, enforcement teams, and external counsel to deliver cost-effective solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and manage housing litigation, including possession proceedings, injunctions, and anti-social behaviour cases.

  • Draft pleadings, witness statements, and represent the authority in county courts and tribunals.

  • Advise on tenancy enforcement, homelessness decisions, allocations, and statutory compliance.

  • Handle disrepair claims and liaise with internal housing teams to resolve issues efficiently.

  • Negotiate settlements and explore alternative dispute resolution where appropriate.

What you'll need to succeed

  • E&W-qualified solicitor or barrister with strong housing litigation experience (5+ years as a guideline).

  • Excellent drafting and advocacy skills with attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage a varied caseload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Local authority experience is desirable but not essential.
