Finance Business Partner- 3 month assignment

Hays is delighted to be working with a leading manufacturing business to recruit an experienced Finance Business Partner for a 3-month interim assignment. The role is a 40-hour working week, with standard hours being 08:30-5pm Monday to Thursday and Friday 08:30-4pm. This role is predominately office-based; however, flexibility is offered. This is a high-impact role designed to bridge the gap between finance and operations, providing strategic insight and commercial challenge to drive performance, efficiency, and profitability across the business.

Your new role

As Finance Business Partner, you will act as a trusted advisor to operational teams, including production, engineering, supply chain, and commercial. You’ll deliver meaningful financial analysis, support planning and forecasting, and help shape strategic decisions through data-driven insight. This is a hands-on role requiring strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to translate financial information into actionable recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver financial analysis across production, supply chain, and commercial functions
  • Analyse cost drivers, variances, and operational KPIs
  • Support margin improvement and product/customer profitability reviews
  • Partner with operational teams to guide financial decisions
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, including scenario modelling
  • Monitor sales performance and forecast accuracy
  • Conduct margin analysis and support pricing decisions
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and track implementation
  • Provide KPI commentary and benchmark performance
  • Support strategic initiatives including investment appraisals and pricing strategy

What you'll need to succeed

You’ll be a qualified accountant (or QBE) with proven experience in a manufacturing or operational finance environment. You’ll have strong analytical skills, commercial acumen, and the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders. Experience in margin analysis, cost control, and business partnering is essential, along with a proactive and collaborative approach.
