Interim Contract Manager
Your new company
You will be working for a public sector healthcare organisation who are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager for a 6-month interim role.
Your new role
- Provide high‑quality advice on a broad range of commercial contracts, including drafting, negotiation, risk assessment, IP, and commercialisation matters.
- Support the development and application of a proportionate, risk‑based approach to contracting, helping to streamline approval pathways and enable contract managers to make informed decisions.
- Contribute to the review and improvement of end‑to‑end contracting processes to enhance efficiency, reduce unnecessary escalation, and strengthen commercial governance.
- Provide peer review, guidance, and quality input on contract matters, helping to ensure consistent legal standards, clear risk analysis, and practical advice.
- Support the effective day‑to‑day operation of the contracts team, including workload coordination, knowledge sharing, and contribution to team development initiatives.
- Escalate complex or higher‑risk matters appropriately, providing analysis and recommendations to more senior colleagues.
- Build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders to support informed decision‑making and organisational priorities.
- Contribute to training, guidance, and knowledge‑sharing activities to help develop capability within the wider commercial and contract management function.
What you'll need to succeed
- Solid post‑qualification experience in commercial contracts
- Experienced using legal technology, AI‑enabled tools, and document automation software to support efficient drafting, review, and management of contracts, with an understanding of appropriate governance, accuracy, and risk controls when using such tools.
- Experience of supporting, mentoring, or coaching colleagues, with an interest in developing others.
- Good understanding of contract governance, risk management, and process improvement principles.
- Ability to provide clear, practical, and solutions‑focused advice.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
What you'll get in return
Bristol office-based assignment but with the option to work from home. Must be able to attend the office when required for business needs so must list within a commutable distance. The role site inside IR35 with the option of Umbrella or Hays PAYE payroll services.
