Interim Children's Residential Manager

Your new company:

The local authority is dedicated to offering well-defined routes for children and young people with
Emotional behavioural disorder and complex needs. You'll play a crucial role in delivering support at a residential home located in Cardiff. This service will cater to children and young people and aims to foster a nurturing and independent atmosphere and to equip these young individuals with essential life skills so they can transition into young adulthood with confidence.

Your new role:

  • Commitment to taking full responsibility and being accountable for the smooth operation of the homes. Striving to be a positive role model and create an inclusive, transparent, and welcoming atmosphere in the homes.
  • Building and nurturing positive connections with children, teenagers, families, community members, CIW, social workers, and other organisations like health, education, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Representing the homes to all relevant individuals and organisations in order for the homes and the services it provides to be well recognised; ensuring it achieves and maintains positive recognition with children and young people, their families, professionals and members of the local community.
  • Lead a multi-agency approach to the assessment of young people who are admitted to the Assessment Centre and develop effective multi-agency plans for their successful move-on in a timely way.
  • Ensure that the home’s Statement of Purpose, are accurate, up to date and regularly reviewed.
  • Develop policies, procedures and practices which follow regulatory requirements and enable proper oversight of management, quality, safety and effectiveness of the service.
  • Actively promote understanding, implementation and compliance with the agreed models of care for the homes and behaviour support programme.
  • To take the role of Practice Leader, supporting and encouraging a Signs of Safety culture within the service.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Driving Licence – essential
  • Residential experience as a registered manager
  • QCF/ NVQ L5 in Children and Young People
  • Good communication skills
  • Teamwork skills
  • Ability to navigate a challenging situation
  • Post subject to enhanced DBS check
  • Driving licence – essential
