Daily Rate: Competitive (DOE)
Start Date: September 2026
Duration: Autumn Term initially, with potential to extend beyond

We are currently partnering with a well-regarded Special School in the West Midlands seeking an experienced Interim Assistant Headteacher to join the leadership team from September.

This is an excellent opportunity for a proven senior leader with a passion for supporting pupils with additional needs and driving high standards across a specialist setting. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the strategic and operational leadership of the school, helping to ensure the best possible outcomes for all learners.

Key Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a Senior Leader within a Special School is essential.
  • A strong understanding of SEND provision and inclusive practice.
  • Experience working with pupils with an Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) would be highly desirable.
  • Previous experience as a SENDCo is advantageous.
  • Ability to support school improvement, curriculum development, staff leadership, and safeguarding practices.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and organisational skills.
The Role:
  • Support the Headteacher and wider leadership team in leading day-to-day school operations.
  • Drive improvements in teaching, learning, behaviour, and pupil outcomes.
  • Provide leadership and support to staff across the school.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and school improvement priorities.
  • Champion inclusive and pupil-centred practice throughout the setting.
