Job Title - Individual Needs Assistant (INA) in KS2
Location - Close to Lewes
Start Date - After Feb half term (23rd Feb)
Job Type - Temporary until end of the Academic Year

Your new company

We are looking for a committed and resilient 1:1 Individual Needs Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with behavioural and emotional needs. This temporary role runs from after February half term through to the end of Term 6.
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider staff team to provide consistent, nurturing, and structured support throughout the school day.


Your new role

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support for a child with behavioural challenges
  • Implementing strategies to help the pupil regulate emotions and remain engaged in learning
  • Supporting the child through transitions, routines, and social interactions
  • Working collaboratively with staff to follow behaviour plans and personalised targets
  • Using the child’s interests—particularly music—to build rapport and encourage positive engagement
  • Maintaining clear, calm communication and modelling positive behaviour
  • Recording observations and contributing to review meetings where appropriate


What you'll need to succeed

We are seeking someone who:
  • Has experience supporting children with behavioural or SEMH needs
  • Remains calm, patient, and consistent under pressure
  • Can build trust and positive relationships with pupils
  • Is confident in using de-escalation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Is proactive, reliable, and able to work as part of a supportive team
  • Brings creativity and flexibility to meet the child’s individual needs
