Your new company
A coastal district authority in the South East, it delivers a broad range of statutory services, including revenues, benefits, and housing. The area combines vibrant seaside towns with rural communities, presenting diverse service needs. Economic development is shaped by tourism, regeneration, and strategic planning. Income teams are integral to sustaining financial resilience and supporting vulnerable residents. Collaboration across departments ensures effective service delivery and community impact.

Your new role
  • Portfolio Management: Independently manage a caseload of low-level current tenant arrears (under £1,000), ensuring timely and appropriate action is taken to prevent escalation.
  • Daily Casework: Monitor and action arrears accounts on a daily basis, including issuing correspondence (letters and emails), conducting outbound telephone contact, and maintaining accurate case notes.
  • Income Recovery Process: Progress cases through the formal income recovery pathway, including issuing reminder notices and formal letters (e.g., Letter 1, Letter 2), in line with policy and procedure.
  • Payment Handling: Process tenant payments securely via the council’s online payment portal, ensuring compliance with financial controls.
  • Direct Debit Administration: Set up and amend direct debit arrangements in accordance with tenant agreements and internal protocols.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with two Income Recovery Officers, escalating complex or high-risk cases appropriately and contributing to team performance targets.

What you'll need to succeed
  • Availability: Immediate start preferred to support ongoing service delivery and minimise disruption to arrears recovery workflows.
  • Work Location: Able to work from the Littlehampton office 2–3 days per week, with flexibility for hybrid working arrangements as required.
Desirable NOT essential
  • System Proficiency: Demonstrable experience using Civica CX, particularly the arrears' management module, to monitor, update, and progress rent accounts.
  • Sector Knowledge: A sound understanding of local authority housing services and income recovery processes, including relevant legislation and best practice in arrears management.

What you'll get in return
Flexible working options available. This is a 4-month temporary assignment with the potential for the role to extend or become permanent depending on performance. The rate is between £15.00 - £17.30 per hour, including holiday pay.
