In-House Solicitor – Renewable Energy Sector – Bristol (Hybrid)

Your New Company
Join a market-leading energy infrastructure company at the forefront of the UK’s solar energy revolution. With a decade of rapid growth and innovation, this business has evolved from a startup into the UK’s leading provider of ground-mounting solutions, achieving a turnover of £44m last year and projecting £68m next year. With new hubs launching in Bristol and Birmingham, and a manufacturing facility underway, this is a company that’s scaling fast while keeping people and sustainability at its core. The legal function is being built from the ground up, offering a unique opportunity to shape its future.

Your New Role
This newly created in-house Solicitor role is a rare opportunity to work directly with senior leadership to establish and grow the legal function. Reporting in to the General Counsel, you’ll be the second permanent legal hire, supported by a seconded senior associate, a document controller, and a soon-to-be-hired paralegal reporting into you. You’ll have access to external counsel, legal tech tools, and strong internal support, with a clear path to Head of Legal for the right candidate.

You’ll be responsible for:
  • Drafting and negotiating equipment supply contracts and installation agreements
  • Providing commercial legal advice to sales and operations teams
  • Managing disputes and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Supporting ESG initiatives, including the company’s BCorp accreditation journey

What You’ll Need to Succeed
  • 2–4 years PQE, ideally in projects or commercial law
  • Experience with EPC contractors, distributors, or technical businesses
  • Familiarity with UK construction regulations (NEC/JCT knowledge is a bonus)
  • Commercially minded, adaptable, and proactive
  • Able to translate complex legal issues into practical business solutions
  • Personable and dynamic, with strong communication skills
  • Ideally based in or near Bristol, with hybrid working flexibility
  • Solar sector experience is welcome but not essential—what matters most is your mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment.

What You’ll Get in Return
  • Competitive salary
  • Discretionary performance bonus (15% last year)
  • Flexible working: hybrid options
  • ESG-focused benefits: EV car scheme, 2 volunteering days, and more
  • Career progression: genuine scope to build and lead your own legal team
  • Inclusive culture: join a business that values diversity, innovation, and impact
