HVAC ENGINEER

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced HVAC Maintenance Engineer to take ownership of both reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across a diverse estate. You’ll be responsible for diagnosing and resolving issues, installing, testing, and commissioning HVAC systems to a high standard. The role also includes occasional coordination of small works and supervision of contractors, with a strong emphasis on energy performance and system optimisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose faults and carry out PPM, RM, CM, statutory inspections, and non-destructive testing on HVAC systems including AHUs, FCUs, chillers, and heating systems.
- Optimise system performance through data analysis and operational improvements.
- Interpret BMS data to identify inefficiencies and implement corrective actions.
- Commission and re-commission plant and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records via the CAFM system.
- Undertake building services maintenance including fabric repairs.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and health & safety regulations.
- Participate in emergency call-out rota.
- Liaise with helpdesk and contractors to deliver maintenance across the estate.
- Supervise and coordinate specialist sub-contractors and safe systems of work.
- Update O&M manuals to reflect asset changes.
- Plan and oversee works to ensure safety, welfare, and environmental compliance.
Qualifications & Experience
- Apprenticeship or formal training in mechanical/electrical engineering.
- City & Guilds Level 3 in HVAC or building services.
- Knowledge of energy efficiency standards (e.g., TM44, CIBSE).
- Strong understanding of health & safety practices.
- Proven experience in HVAC fault finding and maintenance.
- Technical expertise in AHUs, FCUs, chillers, boilers, and pumps.
- Familiarity with water flow balancing and energy data analysis.
- Experience in occupied facilities (ideally laboratories).
- Proficiency with BMS (Trend systems preferred) and Concept Evolution software.
- Knowledge of SFG20 maintenance standards.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
