Your New Role
As the HR Operations Manager, you will lead and develop a team of 18, including 4 direct reports, to deliver strategic and operational people priorities through a shared services operating model. You will be responsible for optimising HR processes and technologies to create an efficient, accessible, and customer-focused HR service. This includes overseeing recruitment and onboarding, HR systems and digital platforms, data and analytics, and first-line HR enquiries. You will lead the design and implementation of the HR Self-Service strategy, driving standardisation, automation, and consolidation to provide excellent service experiences for both colleagues and the organisation. As a senior member of the HR&CC leadership team, you will champion business values and ensure continuous innovation and improvement in line with business priorities and regulatory compliance.

What You’ll Need to Succeed
To thrive in this role, you will bring wide-ranging and in-depth experience managing complex HR operations and service delivery in a diverse and evolving environment. Key skills and experiences include:
  • Strong leadership in managing HR teams and driving high-performance, inclusive cultures
  • Proven success in delivering HR transformation through shared services, digital systems, and self-service models
  • Expertise in HR systems procurement, contract management, and maximising digital technology for efficiency and value
  • Experience managing recruitment, onboarding, and first-line HR enquiries with a focus on candidate and customer experience
  • Proficiency in workforce data, insight, and analytics to support evidence-based decision-making
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders, trade unions, and external partners
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and change management skills
  • Strong commercial acumen and financial management capabilities
  • Knowledge of public sector HR regulations, employment law, and emerging trends
  • Commitment to embedding equality, diversity, and inclusion throughout HR practices
  • Ability to work flexibly across multiple office locations and embrace agile working practices
