HR Policy Manager

Overview

We are supporting a well-established organisation within the education and public services sector to recruit an HR Policy Manager on a 12‑month fixed-term basis on a part-time, 4 days a week basis. This part-time role focusses on shaping a proactive employee relations approach, ensuring compliance across policies and processes, and fostering a positive, inclusive, and resolution‑focused work environment.

The successful candidate will lead policy development, manage complex employee relations casework, and support the development of advisers and managers across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on the development, review and implementation of people policies and procedures.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on complex and sensitive employee relations cases.
  • Support managers and advisers in applying consistent, legally compliant approaches to people management.
  • Contribute to the organisation’s strategy for early conflict resolution and positive working relationships.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders.
  • Analyse employee relations trends and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Deliver workshops and awareness sessions on respectful conduct and inclusive practices.
  • Support project work linked to policy, compliance or employee wellbeing.

Person Specification

  • CIPD Level 7 or equivalent experience.
  • Significant background in employee relations, including complex case handling.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and best practice.
  • Experience developing and implementing people policies.
  • Ability to coach and influence managers.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work confidently with sensitive information.
  • Ability to prioritise and manage multiple demands.
