Your new role
As HR Officer, you will play a pivotal role in delivering a comprehensive, professional and proactive HR service across the organisation. Working closely with senior leaders and managers, you will support the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment and induction through learning and development, employee relations, engagement and governance support. This is a varied and influential role where you will combine operational HR delivery with strategic inputs, contributing directly to organisational performance and employee experience.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating end-to-end recruitment processes, including pre-employment checks, contracts, and supporting managers with interviews
- Leading induction processes for new employees and supporting workforce planning
- Planning, implementing and evaluating learning and development activities aligned to business objectives
- Advising managers on performance management, employee relations, attendance and absence management, and employment legislation
- Taking an active role in employee engagement initiatives, organisational culture and benefits coordination
- Supporting the development of employee wellbeing strategies and external partnerships
- Advising on equality, diversity and inclusion and supporting associated data collection and reporting
- Providing governance and HR Support to the Board and Staffing Sub‑Committee, including training administration and meeting support
- Reviewing and implementing HR Policies, supporting HR system development and liaising closely with Finance and ICT colleagues
To be successful in this HR Officer role, you will bring:
- Proven experience working in a generalist HR role covering recruitment, employee relations and learning and development
- Strong working knowledge of Employment legislation, HR best practice and policy implementation
- Experience supporting managers with complex and sensitive people issues
- The ability to plan, deliver and evaluate training and learning activities
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence in presenting and training groups
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work proactively
- A commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and employee wellbeing
- Confidence using HR systems, ICT and data to improve efficiency and decision-making
- A collaborative, values-driven mindset and the flexibility to support the wider team when required
