HR Business Partner

Hays HR is delighted to be working exclusively with a charity located in Newcastle on the recruitment of an HR Business Partner to join their small HR team as they go on an exciting journey. The HR team is leading on a 5-year people strategy, first starting with the trial of a 4-day working week and a new HR & Payroll System being implemented. The HRBP will act as a trusted advisor to managers, delivering practical HR support across employee relations, performance, recruitment, talent development, and operational HR processes within a specific area of the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert HR advice to managers on employee relations, performance, and policy compliance.
  • Support talent acquisition, onboarding, development, and retention activities.
  • Coach managers on performance management and support improvement plans.
  • Ensure compliance with employment law, HR policies, GDPR, safeguarding, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify training needs and support delivery of learning and development activities.
  • Support compensation and benefits queries and ensure fair application of processes.
  • Oversee HR administration, including lifecycle changes, records management, and data reporting.
  • Analyse HR data and produce reports for leadership teams.
  • Contribute to HR projects and organisational change initiatives.
  • Promote employee wellbeing and act as a Mental Health First Aider.
  • Uphold confidentiality, equality, diversity, and safeguarding standards.

Required Experience & Skills
  • Strong HR generalist experience, ideally as an HR Business Partner or Senior HR Adviser.
  • In‑depth knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations.
  • Experience managing varied workloads and supporting organisational change.
  • Strong communication, coaching, influencing and relationship building skills.
  • High integrity, confidentiality, and a proactive, solution‑focused approach.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively, with strong organisational and data analysis skills.
