HR Advisor – 6-Month Fixed Term Contract

We are seeking a confident and compassionate HR Advisor to join our clients team. You will provide high‑quality, proactive HR advice and support to managers across the organisation, acting as a key point of contact for a wide range of people‑related issues.

Working closely with the HR Business Partner, you will ensure a consistent, professional, and values‑driven service. You’ll manage a varied employee relations caseload, support organisational initiatives, and help to build a positive and inclusive workplace culture through effective coaching, communication, and case management.

Key Responsibilities

People Advisory & Casework
  • Act as a first point of contact for professional advice on employment policies, procedures, legislation, terms and conditions, and a broad range of people matters.
  • Provide timely and practical guidance, ensuring consistent interpretation and application of organisational policies.
  • Manage a caseload of employee relations matters including disciplinary, grievance, performance management, sickness absence, and other conduct or employment issues.
  • Support the reduction of sickness absence through active case management, including facilitating Occupational Health referrals and advising on wellbeing initiatives and workplace adjustments.
  • Conduct or support sensitive and challenging conversations relating to absence, welfare issues, investigations, and presenting evidence at disciplinary hearings (including complex or distressing cases).
  • Guide managers to produce accurate, high‑quality outcome letters and reports in line with best practice.

Coaching & Leadership Support
  • Communicate effectively with the HR Business Partner to ensure aligned and high‑quality support for managers.
  • Provide guidance that enables managers to lead fair, effective, and compassionate employment processes.
  • Escalate lessons or emerging risks promptly to the HR Business Partner.
Partnership Working
  • Build strong working relationships with managers, teams, and stakeholders to support timely case resolution and enhance the employee experience.
  • Liaise with subject matter experts and line managers to resolve employment matters efficiently.
  • Work collaboratively with Trade Union representatives, communicating and consulting appropriately, especially when navigating complex or emotive situations.

About You
You will be an experienced HR professional with strong employment relations expertise and the ability to manage complex, sensitive cases with confidence and compassion. You’ll bring excellent communication skills, emotional intelligence, and the ability to work independently in a fast‑paced environment. Building positive relationships and offering constructive challenge will come naturally to you.
