Your new role

This HR Advisor role includes supporting the business with advice and guidance, processing all documentation and correspondence relating to employee life cycle matters. You will be providing expert HR and employment law advice, coaching and mentoring colleagues and line Managers; improving managers’ confidence to deal with day to day first line HR queries. This role is a true HR generalist post with some weighting to ER and Advisory work. It will involve supporting the local delivery and implementation of the people strategy with guidance and support from the Hub People Business Partner. Other areas include:

  • Through working closely with internal and external recruitment partners, supporting managers to appoint high quality colleagues in a timely manner.
  • Support and challenge managers in their workforce planning to enable them to recruit the right person with the right skills for the right work pattern that meets the business needs.
  • Drive effective workforce planning through regular workforce discussions with the hospital Senior Management Team.
  • Be an ambassador for Oracle, Refer a Friend, local open day events and activities working with managers and relevant recruitment partners to ensure maximum value for potential new colleagues and the hospital.
  • Lead the hospital onboarding activities for all new joiners to ensure all new colleagues are inducted in a timely manner by the hospital and their individual department.

  • Ensure new starter OH processes are processed efficiently.
  • Provide support to managers with colleague OH referrals, to implement OH advice to meet the needs of the business whilst respecting an individual’s medical conditions and needs.
  • Absence - actively manage absence within the hospital to reduce short-term absence and manage long-term absence effectively.
    Support managers in managing absent colleagues, ensuring the colleague feels supported whilst managing the departmental resources appropriately.
  • Colleague Relations and People Matters - Be the initial point of contact for all HR matters and provide high quality consistent HR advice in line with policy, procedure and best practice. Signpost colleagues and managers appropriately to other support mechanisms, such as the Colleague Experience Team, EAP providers, Occupational Health, or online resources. Support Managers in performance management processes, disciplinary, grievance issues and attendance matters.
  • Attend where required as HR support for the manager, in such meetings and discussions - Ensure all employee relations issues are managed in a timely manner, prioritising workload and multiple cases accordingly, working closely with ER Business Partner colleagues where appropriate. Provide guidance and support for rotas, agency, bank, absence, holidays and queries. Escalate matters to the Hub People Business Partner as appropriate.
  • Policies and Legislation - Manage the adherence to all HR policies and procedures. Coaching, advice and training where required to ensure maximum understanding and implementation across the business.
  • Diversity and Equality - Ensure that diversity and equality, fairness and consistency is applied to all discussions and decisions with managers and colleagues, whilst balancing the needs of the business.
  • Reward and Benefits - Be an advocate and ambassador. Promote on a regular basis all colleague benefits to ensure maximum understanding and take-up, especially at the renewal window. Co-ordinate the annual EE process and support managers have regular 1:1 with all colleagues. Support pay reviews to ensure fairness and consistency is applied to all.
  • People Systems - Be a champion, supporting Managers and colleagues in understanding the benefits. Guide and advise managers to ensure all transactions are processed in a timely manner. Support Managers to ensure all colleagues understand, have the ability and opportunity to use the Colleague Self Service and the People Portal. Process those transactions that remain with HR, such as local recruitment and professional registrations. Oversee local transactions to ensure managers are completed in a timely manner.
  • Colleague Engagement - Work with the local engagement lead to support the local colleague engagement plan, leading, driving and supporting activities as required. Actively promote colleague surveys. Complete exit interviews with resigning staff and process leaver documentation in a timely manner to ensure accurate final pay.
  • Communications - Coordinate and communicate the HR calendar of requirements such as the pay review, benefits window and payroll dates to ensure all are aware of the relevant details and actions where required.
    • Manage the HR inbox and ensure all enquiries and queries are dealt with in a timely manner, escalating to other HR team members where necessary. Liaise with payroll ensuring that they have any contract changes / payroll information required to ensure that employees are paid correctly.
  • Project and Ad Hoc work - Work with the wider HR team on corporate projects, support the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems, effectively implementing initiatives, whilst continually seeking and recommending improvements.
