HR Administrator - 9-month contract

Hays are working alongside a reputable business based in Telford who are looking for a HR Administrator for a 9 month fixed term contract your role will be responsible for delivering high-quality administrative support across the entire employee lifecycle. Acting as the first point of contact for general HR queries, the postholder will support recruitment, onboarding, HR compliance, employee benefits, training coordination, and leaver administration. The role requires a proactive, detail-oriented individual who can manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
Your new role
- Advertise vacancies internally and externally.
- Coordinate interviews and candidate communication.
- Process all new starter paperwork, including right-to-work checks and issuing contracts.
- Monitor HR/recruitment inboxes and manage internal/external HR correspondence.
- Maintain accurate HR records and filing systems in line with data protection regulations.
- Process contractual changes and ad hoc HR letters.
- Liaise with payroll teams regarding starters, leavers, and pay/benefits changes.
- Administer employee benefits and ensure timely communication of entitlements.
- Record sickness absence and flag issues in accordance with policy.
- Prepare parental leave documentation and ensure compliance with employment law.
- Coordinate internal and external training bookings.
- Provide general guidance on HR policies and procedures.
- Attend employee relation meetings as a note taker, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
- Manage the Employee of the Month scheme, including nominations and communications.
- Process HR leaver documentation and remove individuals from systems.
- Respond to employment reference requests.
- Ensure effective communication with the wider HR team.
- Support ad hoc projects and departmental improvements.
What you'll need to succeed
- This role requires handling confidential employee data and must be performed with the highest levels of discretion and professionalism.
- The successful candidate will be required to travel to local sites occassionally.
- Flexibility to support ad hoc projects and departmental priorities is essential.
- Strong administrative experience (min. 2 years).
- Ability to manage high volumes of work independently.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience working with HR databases.
- Understanding of HR policies and procedures.
- Experience in an HR support role.
- Understanding of Right to Work legislation.
- Experience in hospitality or retail sectors.
- Positive and proactive attitude.
