HR Administrator

About the Role

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented HR Services Administrator to join our busy and supportive HR team. You’ll be the first point of contact for managers, employees, and prospective staff—providing professional advice and handling a wide range of HR administrative tasks. From recruitment to onboarding and contract management, you’ll play a key role in delivering a high-quality HR service across the employee lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Employment Lifecycle
  • Coordinate recruitment and onboarding processes, including hourly-paid roles
  • Issue contracts, variations, and termination letters
  • Maintain reminders for contract expiry dates
  • Ensure all service level agreements (SLAs) and payroll deadlines are met
HR Systems & Data
  • Accurately input starter, leaver, and contract data into the HR system
  • Maintain data quality and contribute to regular reporting
  • Ensure compliance with DBS, Right to Work, UKVI, and other employment regulations
  • Provide first-line advice on right to work matters
Team Support & Collaboration
  • Support other HR teams as needed
  • Lead onboarding for bulk student recruitment (e.g., Student Ambassadors)
  • Create and maintain procedural documentation
  • Administer DBS checks for BU staff
  • Deliver training on recruitment and hourly-paid processes
Customer Service & Communication
  • Respond to queries via phone, email, and in person professionally and efficiently
  • Participate in the departmental reception rota
  • Handle sensitive information in line with data protection legislation
  • Provide note-taking support for formal HR proceedings (e.g., disciplinary hearings)
Internal & External Contacts
  • Internal: HR & OD colleagues, Faculty/Professional Services teams, Office of the Vice-Chancellor
  • External: Candidates, advertising agencies, regulatory bodies
Challenges
  • Managing high volumes of activity within strict deadlines
  • Ensuring accuracy and consistency across all HR processes
Information Governance
  • Comply with data protection, information security, and IT policies
  • Understand safeguarding responsibilities related to regulated activity

This is a temp assignment until the end of March 2026 - £15.45 an hour - based in Bournemouth - parking is available – hybrid working offered.
