Housing Officer required for a large Housing Association based in Derry / Londonderry
Your new company
The services of Hays have been retained by our client, a Housing Association based in Derry / Londonderry, to recruit a Housing Officer on a temporary contract basis for a period of c. 12 months.
Your new role
Reporting to the Senior Housing Officer, you will be responsible for delivering a range of generic front-line housing management and customer services in accordance with the Association's policies and procedures, including:
Allocations
Providing information to applicants and transfers and liaising with appropriate bodies as necessary.
Undertaking accompanied viewings and signing up new tenants.
Involvement in pre-tenancy processes for all new housing developments, including arranging viewing of properties, arranging pre-tenancy meetings for new tenants in conjunction with property services.
Undertaking Change of Tenancy inspections in line with the Associations' policy.
Rent Accounting
Monitoring rent calculations and advising tenants of changes within the required timescales.
Liaising with the Finance department on an ongoing basis in respect of financial matters.
Monitoring and taking action in respect of rent accounts, ensuring that rental income due is collected, and department targets are met.
Maintaining an awareness of Welfare Reform, Mitigation measures and Universal Credit.
Estate Management.
Recording and investigating all complaints regarding tenancy matters ensuring a satisfactory outcome in line with the Association's policies and procedures.
Implementing the Association’s policies where non-compliance with tenancy conditions occurs.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this position, you must possess:
A third level qualification or be educated to A Level (or equivalent) with a professional Housing qualification and 1 year's relevant experience with a social landlord or local authority, or;
Be educated to A Level (or equivalent) with 2 years' relevant experience in a Housing Officer role with a social landlord or local authority, or;
3 years’ experience working as a Housing Officer.
Additionally, you should have:
Knowledge of current social housing policy and issues;
Experience in the use of Microsoft Office packages, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
