Housing disrepair paralegal - Warrington - temporary/fixed term contract

Your new company

We are currently recruiting an experienced paralegal to join an internal litigation team within a large North West Housing association.

Your new role

Your role will be to defend litigation proceedings, in order to minimise legal financial loss and negative PR and reputational harm, through effective case management and understanding of methodologies for assessing and dealing with litigated disrepair claims.

You will provide legal advice and guidance to colleagues as necessary on case numbers, cost analysis, sector profiling, and outcomes on aspects relating to service provision. And you will advocate within legal proceedings and will have the ability to lead and act as a colleague contact between interdepartmental teams to collate evidence, provide support and training to colleagues to minimise exposure risk.

This role is full time, and you will work 35 hours per week Monday – Friday. There may be a requirement to attend court when needed, so access to your own vehicle will be needed. This is a hybrid role, and you will be able to work from home the majority of the time, but there will be a weekly requirement to attend the office based in Warrington 1–2 days per week for any staff meetings or training.

What you'll need to succeed

You will have experience and knowledge of relevant legislation affecting the social housing sector. Along with experience of multicomplex litigation, whether as a claimant or defendant litigator with experience of all general areas of litigation such as ASB, injunctions and possession.
Ideally, you will have previously worked with or within the social housing sector, have experience of advocacy, whether as a claimant or defendant advocate, and you will be working towards or seeking to work towards a law degree or equivalent CILEX CPQ level qualification.

What you'll get in return

You will receive a competitive hourly rate with holiday accrual, you will have access to free car parking, and you will be paid mileage when required to travel. You will also have a supportive team and will have access to training.
