About the Role
Hays is recruiting on behalf of Amey, a trusted provider of facilities and infrastructure services, for a Building Engineer to join the team at HMP Haverigg. This is a hands-on role within a secure environment, ideal for someone with a strong background in building maintenance and engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver planned and reactive maintenance across the prison estate
  • Diagnose and repair building fabric issues including walls, floors, ceilings, and structural elements
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety and statutory regulations
  • Work collaboratively with other trades and prison staff
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used

What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Relevant qualifications in building maintenance or engineering (e.g. NVQ, City & Guilds)
  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within facilities or public sector environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Must be able to pass enhanced security clearance (vetting required)
