Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Birmingham
Salary: Dependent on experience.
Contract Type: Monday to Friday; hours vary daily between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM
Start Date: ASAP

Job Description: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, differentiated support across Key Stages 3–5, leading targeted interventions, covering lessons in the absence of teachers, and collaborating on curriculum planning. You will empower students to achieve their best, foster independence, and contribute to whole-school improvement.

Key responsibilities


• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated small-group and whole-class sessions
• Cover short-term teacher absences, following schemes of work
• Lead intervention programmes to close learning gaps and boost progress
• Prepare resources, adapt materials, and support lesson planning
• Assess, record, and report on student achievement and behaviour
• Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and other professionals to implement strategies
• Maintain a positive, inclusive environment that promotes high expectations

Requirements

• HLTA accreditation or equivalent Level 4 qualification
• Proven experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant or similar role
• Strong knowledge of the secondary curriculum across multiple subjects
• Excellent behaviour-management skills and classroom presence
• Ability to plan, adapt, and deliver lessons in line with teacher objectives
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
• Committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children; enhanced DBS check required
