Your new role
Our pupils are exceptional. Are you? We are excited to offer the opportunity for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), to join our amazing team and work with pupils who have a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs.

The successful candidate will be expected to make a real and positive impact upon the lives of children who have a range of special educational needs (SEMH/ASD), life experiences and personalities that make every day varied and interesting. You will be able to successfully build trusting pupil relationships and motivate and encourage pupils as required by providing levels of individual attention and reassurance with learning tasks as appropriate.

Overview of the role includes:
● Working with class teachers to raise the learning and attainment of pupils
● Promoting pupils’ independence, self-esteem and social inclusion
● Giving support to pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning, and experience a sense of achievement.

Experience and Qualifications
● Minimum of 1 years’ experience working with children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs or Autism Spectrum Conditions. Alternatively, you will have similar experience in an educational / residential / social work / youth work or other similar setting.
● Experience of planning and leading teaching and learning activities (under supervision).
● Understanding of effective teaching methods.
● Knowledge of how to successfully lead learning activities.
● Desirable qualifications include, HLTA qualification, clean driving licence, an autism qualification or experience.

Working hours:
● Term time only
● Monday - Thursday 8.15am-4.30pm
● Friday 8.15am-3.15pm

The successful candidate will join the school on a permanent basis, working term time only for 5 days per week.
