History Supply Teacher – Bristol

Your new role

Hays Education is recruiting Qualified History Teachers (QTS) to work on a supply basis across a range of secondary schools in Bristol and the surrounding areas. We are looking for enthusiastic and knowledgeable History specialists who can deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach KS5 in some placements.

We offer a variety of placement types, including:

Day‑to‑day History cover
Short‑term block assignments
Long‑term History roles, available now, after Easter, and for September

What you'll be doing

As a History Supply Teacher, you will:

Teach engaging lessons covering British, European and World history at KS3 & KS4
Follow school schemes of work and ensure continuity for students
Promote critical thinking, source analysis and strong written skills
Maintain high expectations for behaviour and engagement
Adapt confidently to different school environments and department cultures

Long‑term placements may include planning, marking, assessments and involvement in department activities.

What you'll need to succeed

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Strong subject knowledge in History
Experience teaching in a UK secondary school (ECT placements accepted)
Excellent behaviour management and communication skills
The right to work in the UK
An Enhanced DBS, or willingness to apply for one
A flexible, positive approach to supply work
ECTs are welcome to apply
