Your New Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you’ll play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. You’ll be confident stepping into the classroom, delivering planned lessons, and supporting pupils with a range of needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading whole-class learning in the absence of the teacher
  • Delivering small-group interventions and targeted support
  • Assisting with planning, preparation, and assessment
  • Supporting students with additional needs, ensuring inclusive practice
  • Working closely with teachers to raise attainment and engagement
  • Helping to create a positive, purposeful learning environment
  • Providing feedback on pupil progress and contributing to team discussions

What You’ll Need to Succeed

  • HLTA status or equivalent experience
  • Strong classroom management skills and confidence leading learning
  • Experience supporting pupils across different age groups or abilities

  • The ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team
