Health, Safety & Environment Advisor

Hays Health & Safety are exclusively supporting a major UK residential developer and maintenance provider to appoint a Senior Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Advisor. You’ll help plan, deliver and review a varied portfolio of construction and maintenance projects across the West Yorkshire region—driving compliance, improving culture and enabling safe, efficient delivery.

What you’ll do
  • Advise project and site teams on CDM duties, agreeing practical actions to achieve compliance.
  • Embed SHE policies and procedures across multiple sites; champion behavioural safety through site engagement, forums and leadership meetings.
  • Use the company’s digital SHE platform to capture, track and report actions and learning.
  • Conduct formal monthly reviews (with interim support visits) to assess compliance, forward plan upcoming works and drive improvements.
  • Intervene and stop work where necessary; provide immediate guidance and support to close gaps.
  • Support Construction Phase Plans, tender/PQQ inputs and SHE management reviews.
  • Contribute to sustainability and performance objectives, reporting progress and sharing best practice.
  • Deliver briefings, workshops and inductions to build capability and consistency.

What you need
  • NEBOSH Construction (or equivalent) — Diploma‑level advantageous.
  • Experience as a Safety/SHE Advisor within construction (residential strongly preferred).
  • Confident influencing style, strong stakeholder skills, and a track record of improving site standards.
