Hays Health & Safety are working with a rapidly growing, values-driven Health & Safety consultancy seeking a dynamic and adaptable H&S Consultant to join their expert team.
The Role
As a Health & Safety Consultant, you’ll play a key role in delivering expert advice, guidance, and on-site support to clients. You’ll be responsible for ensuring compliance with H&S legislation, promoting best practice, and helping clients maintain safe, legally compliant operations.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing and implementing safe systems of work and operational procedures
Acting as CDM Site Manager or Principal Contractor on project sites, including issuing Permits to Work (Hot Works, Confined Spaces, Excavations, etc.)
Conducting and reviewing risk assessments and method statements
Advising on specialist areas such as fire safety, hazardous substances, machinery safeguarding, CDM 2015, and occupational health
Carrying out site audits and inspections, reporting findings and recommendations
Delivering tailored H&S support and training to clients
Producing clear, concise management reports and updates
Supporting clients through H&S accreditation processes
Keeping up to date with evolving legislation and industry best practice

What You’ll Need
NEBOSH General and/or Construction Certificate (or equivalent)
Proven experience in a similar H&S role – CDM site management is essential
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
Willingness to travel and stay away from home when required (every other week)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and report writing
