Overview
Hays Health & Safety are excited to be working with an established SME operating alongside the river Mersey.This role is ideal for a Health & Safety professional with at least two years’ experience or an early‑career practitioner who has already delivered strong results. You’ll play a hands‑on role in maintaining compliance, supporting safe operations, and driving continuous improvement across a busy industrial site.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver site inductions for all staff, contractors, and visitors.
- Oversee PUWER/LOLER inspections to ensure all plant and lifting accessories remain compliant.
- Conduct regular site and facility inspections to ensure standards and customer requirements are met.
- Investigate incidents, injuries, and near misses, including root‑cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain and communicate risk assessments and safe systems of work to ensure staff understanding and compliance.
- Review, improve, and update Risk Assessments and SSOW across all activities.
- Prepare and deliver toolbox talks to embed strong safety culture.
- Monitor training requirements and ensure all staff receive appropriate training in line with the training matrix.
- Assist with planning and preparation for safe, organised, and efficient site operations.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies including Health & Safety representatives, environmental authorities, and local agencies.
- Support actions arising from internal safety committee meetings.
- Assist with achieving future accreditations as the business continues to grow.
About You
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) is essential.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Health & Safety role or early‑career professional with notable achievements and strong practical exposure.
- Knowledge of PUWER, LOLER, and risk assessment processes.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence and support staff at all levels.
- Self‑motivated, organised, and able to work flexibly to meet operational demands.
- Strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to identifying and managing risks.
