Your new company
A highly skilled carpentry and joinery contractor with over 25 years experience working on some of the highest profile and largest construction projects in London. They cover all aspects of carpentry and joinery, ranging from residential to historic buildings.
Your new role
Responsible for all Health and Safety requirements within the company and reports directly to the Construction and Commercial Director. Liaise with clients, their representatives, designers and the contract management team on the contract Health and Safety, Quality & Environmental requirements. Monitor and maintain the IMS system. Carry out monthly site inspections or at reduced intervals as may be required from time to time. Ensure that the construction phase health and safety plan and method statements have been produced for each contract and ensure the appropriate information is issued to the senior management prior to commencement on site. Ensure Risk Assessments and COSHH assessments are kept up to date.

Your new role

Carry out monthly site inspections or at reduced intervals as may be required from time to time. Some key responsibilities include:
- Report problems to the correct level of management and document serious concerns;
- Monitor the situation and check that actions have been taken to correct dangerous or unsatisfactory work conditions;
- Liaison with enforcing authorities.
- Retaining safety reference documents.
- Maintaining and checking safety, quality and environmental records
- Identify training needs and ensure that they are satisfied.
- Produce and maintain a training plan and liaise with CITB regarding grants
- Maintain internal safety meeting routines and records of meetings.
- To ensure that the contents of the company policies are disseminated and circulated as appropriate to all company employees.
- To monitor the effectiveness of the policies at all levels and bring into effect changes which are considered necessary.
- Keep the Directors informed of HSE visits and correspondence.
- Ensure that fire risk assessments and fire plans are in place and reviewed annually
- Ensure that VDU assessments of workstations are in place and reviewed as necessary
- Record and report, investigate all accidents / near-misses and report to the board of Directors.
What you'll need to succeed
- Must be a confident, capable H&S Manager able to work autonomously who will actively seek solutions to problems rather than shy away from them.
- NEBOSH General certificate or equivalent.
- IOSH membership
- CDM 2015 Certificate
- Be confident in Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint).
- Experience of ISO 45001, 9001 & 14001, Audits & Management maintenance.
- Experience in preparing and updating RAMS for Client approval.
- Experience with Project/Site inspection visits.
- Familiar with tender process
