Hays is working with a global real estate business that develops, operates, and manages commercial, residential, retail, logistics, and hospitality properties across major cities worldwide with a portfolio of over 1000 properties. Just in London alone, the portfolio of properties ranges from 300,000 sq ft - 1 million sq ft.

Your new role

As the health and safety manager, you will be leading the way across a diverse portfolio of commercial and residential properties. The successful candidate will be driven and a go-getter that wants to hunt down problems before the problems occur. You will ensure that all operations meet UK legislation and industry best practices, driving a positive health and safety culture throughout the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement robust health and safety policies aligned with ISO 45001, 14001, and 9001 standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Deliver safety briefings, toolbox talks, and training sessions to staff and contractors.
  • Collaborate with sustainability teams to promote environmentally responsible practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including RAMS, audit reports, and training records.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure consistent safety standards across all sites.

What you'll need to succeed

  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in health and safety management within property, construction, maintenance or engineering
  • Strong understanding of UK HSE legislation and CDM regulations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple sites and stakeholders effectively.
