Health and Safety Lead - Housing Focus

Your New Company

An organisation committed to delivering safe, compliant and well ‑ managed housing and workplace environments is seeking a Health & Safety Lead to join its Property Assets and Compliance team. This team plays a crucial role in ensuring that all statutory, regulatory and best ‑ practice obligations are met across a diverse property portfolio, while driving continuous improvement in health, safety and compliance standards.

Your New Role

As the Health & Safety Lead for Property Assets and Compliance, you will provide expert health and safety guidance across a wide range of operational and strategic activities. You will:

  • Lead on the production of key compliance and health & safety performance information.
  • Draft and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Ensure robust health & safety and CDM arrangements for construction ‑ related programmes and projects.
  • Maintain and develop compliance assurance frameworks and digital compliance systems.
  • Undertake site inspections, mini ‑ audits and annual reviews, providing recommendations for service improvement.
  • Support procurement and contractor onboarding from a health & safety due ‑ diligence perspective.
  • Deliver and coordinate training, inductions and engagement sessions for staff and contractors.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, residents, safeguarding partners and the local fire service.
  • Assist with developing policies, procedures, resident engagement strategies and communications relating to building and tenant safety.

This is a fixed ‑ term role for 12 months.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

Qualifications & Training:

  • Degree ‑ level education or equivalent experience.
  • NEBOSH General Certificate and Fire Safety qualification (or IOSH equivalent).
  • IOSH CDM training or equivalent.
  • A willingness to work towards the NEBOSH Diploma.
  • A full, valid driving licence.

Experience:

  • Significant experience in housing ‑ related health and safety.
  • Demonstrable experience in highly regulated, fast ‑ paced environments.
  • Strong understanding of compliance areas including fire safety, asbestos, gas, lifts, water hygiene, damp & mould and electrical safety.
  • Experience of contract management, procurement and working closely with resident groups.
  • Strong report ‑ writing, data analysis and Microsoft Office skills.
