Interim Health & Safety Coordinator
Day Rate: £350 per day
Contract: Interim, 3–6 months
Location: Birmingham (operational depots and sites)

The Role
We are looking for an Interim Health & Safety Coordinator to support the coordination, implementation and monitoring of health and safety arrangements across Street Scene operational services.
This role focuses on ensuring that safety systems, documentation, inspections, incidents and corrective actions are effectively coordinated and tracked. You will act as a key link between operational teams and the Health & Safety function, supporting consistent implementation of safety processes across multiple service areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Systems & Documentation
  • Support delivery of the Street Scene health and safety management framework
  • Coordinate and maintain risk assessments, safe systems of work and procedures
  • Ensure safety documentation is current, controlled and accessible
Inspections & Assurance
  • Coordinate and undertake routine safety inspections across depots and sites
  • Track actions arising from inspections and audits to completion
  • Maintain accurate safety records and registers
Incident & Data Management
  • Support incident reporting and investigation processes
  • Track corrective and preventative actions following incidents
  • Maintain safety data and contribute to performance reporting
Engagement & Communication
  • Support safety engagement with supervisors and frontline teams
  • Assist with safety meetings, briefings and toolbox talks
  • Act as a point of contact for operational safety queries

Essential Experience
  • Experience in a health and safety coordination or support role
  • Knowledge of UK health and safety legislation
  • Experience supporting risk assessments and safety documentation
  • Strong organisational, administrative and IT skills
  • Experience supporting inspections, incidents or safety data management
Desirable Experience
  • Experience in local authority, waste, fleet, construction or operational environments
  • Understanding of ISO 45001 or structured management systems
  • Experience supporting audits or assurance activity
