Your New Role
As the Health & Safety Advisor with a strong emphasis on fire safety , you will lead on delivering expert guidance, policy development, and operational support across the organisation.
You will play a key part in shaping the organisation’s fire safety arrangements, including:
- Developing and reviewing fire safety policies and procedures.
- Supporting fire risk assessments and advising operational teams on required controls.
- Coordinating fire evacuation drills and managing fire warden arrangements.
- Ensuring fire safety responsibilities are embedded across services in line with current fire legislation and best practice.
- Interpreting and implementing fire safety ‑ related statutory requirements, including actions arising from audits, inspections or incidents.
Alongside your fire safety responsibilities, you will also contribute to the wider health and safety strategy, incident investigation, training development, contractor assessments, and proactive monitoring across a variety of service areas.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
You will bring a strong foundation of health and safety knowledge and practical experience, alongside a specific focus on fire safety . Essential requirements include:
- NEBOSH Fire Safety qualification (or equivalent specialist fire safety training).
- A comprehensive understanding of fire safety legislation, fire risk management, and workplace fire precautions.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) and commitment to continuing professional development.
- Experience advising on health and safety in a complex operational environment.
- Proven ability to influence, guide and support a wide range of stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills and confidence providing professional, tactful, evidence ‑ based advice.
- Experience delivering training and promoting positive safety culture.
- A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work.
Desirable experience includes involvement in strategic H&S or fire safety projects, public sector experience, and leading cultural change initiatives.
