Start ASAPWe’re seeking a strategic and hands-on Head of Technical Operations to take full ownership of our client’s DevOps function. This is a standout opportunity to lead meaningful transformation across the organisation’s DevOps landscape, aligning infrastructure performance with critical customer journeys.
This fully remote role is outside IR35 and ideal for a consultant who thrives in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
Your new company
As the Lead DevOps Consultant, you’ll play a pivotal role in reviewing, challenging, and reengineering existing processes. Partnering closely with development teams, you’ll ensure the infrastructure is scalable, secure, and optimised to support a rapidly evolving global e-commerce platform.
We’re looking for a technically strong leader who brings fresh ideas, champions best practices, and can deliver a short-term roadmap that sets the team up for long-term success.
Your new role
- Conduct a comprehensive performance review of the platform and tooling
- Own infrastructure architecture, performance, and cost-efficiency
- Align DevOps operations with key e-commerce flows and performance metrics
- Drive observability improvements using New Relic and Rollbar
- Optimise website performance and customer experience
- Review and enhance configurations for speed and security
- Maintain high standards of cloud security and compliance
- Ensure smooth and efficient operation of Redis and Couchbase databases
What you'll need to succeed
- Proven leadership in high-growth DevOps environments
- Deep understanding of high-traffic platforms (ideally e-commerce)
- Strong technical expertise in:
- Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
- New Relic (APM, Infrastructure, Alerts, Dashboards)
- Cloudflare or similar performance/security platforms
- Demonstrated ability to challenge legacy systems and drive change
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- A delivery-focused, transformational mindset with long-term impact
