Your new role

Hybrid role - 60% onsite in Bristol.

This HR leadership post has a large HR team including HR Business Partners. You will utilise your strategic and tactical HR expertise in this pivotal post is responsible for HR activities across a number of areas including:

  • Leading, managing and developing an efficient and effective HR function in the successful provision of an outstanding professional service which enables the organisation to achieve its goals.

  • Ensuring the HR team delivers confident, compliant employment relations and people change management.

  • Effective and efficient development, oversight and coordination of policies, procedures, systems and practices to meet ethical, legal and professional standards and wider business requirements.

  • Collaborating and contributing to the development of organisational plans and strategies.

  • Promoting and embedding a culture of learning and continuous improvement, innovation, health and wellbeing, inclusion and high -performance leadership within the department.

What you'll need to succeed

  • You will need extensive experience leading HR teams, strategic and tactical HR expertise, ideally in larger, more complex, public service organisations - effectively leading, managing, developing and supporting teams of people and specialist functions.

  • Significant experience of supporting people change such as department/organisation restructure, TUPE or other substantial change.

  • Evidence of operating and influencing stakeholders at a senior level within an organisation including trade unions.

  • Demonstrable background of successful people management and accountability for effective performance management.

  • Track record implementing successful development, change and innovation - constructively and tactfully challenging the status quo in the interest of the organisations success.

  • Well versed in having accountability and effective management of budgets and financial resources.

  • Strong technical HR knowledge including legal, political, economic, social, technological and environmental factors.

  • Proven track record developing and managing effective operational plans and strategies.

  • Ability to facilitate, influence and encourage innovation and change to drive improvement.

  • History of building and sustaining successful working relationships and collaborations internally and externally

  • Success in managing business operations/services and projects/initiatives.

  • Effective in managing quality assurance, performance and continuous improvement.
