Head of Governance

Your new company
This organisation is a globally recognised environmental initiative focused on accelerating action to address the world’s most pressing climate and natural challenges. It supports and invests in innovative solutions from across the globe, bringing together leaders, communities, businesses, and funders to drive meaningful and lasting environmental impact.

Your new role
As Head of Governance, you will lead the organisation’s governance, legal and board management function, ensuring robust governance frameworks are in place. Working closely with senior leadership and external advisers, you will act as a key bridge between the Board and Executive team, translating strategy into clear, effective board materials and providing proactive guidance on governance best practice.
The role also holds responsibility for legal oversight, including managing contracts, coordinating external legal counsel, and ensuring consistency and rigour across agreements and jurisdictions. In addition, you will oversee relationships with a high-profile and highly engaged Board, ensuring trustees are well-supported, their time is managed effectively, and their engagement with the organisation is positive and impactful.

What you'll need to succeed
A strong grasp of governance and law combining strategic awareness with the interpersonal skills to operate at a senior level. Experience working in the non-profit sector as a senior member of the governance team.
Ideally, you would have familiarity with charity law, the Charity Commission's requirements and Companies Act 2006. The ability to advise senior executives and boards on governance matters, including in sensitive or high-stakes situations. Exceptional attention to detail and analytical thinking with strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise board papers, minutes and governance advice. CGI or equivalent qualification or years of experience.

What you'll get in return
A competitive salary, pension contributions and medical insurance. As well as the opportunity to work within a fantastic team for a great company.
