I am exclusively instructed with this rare opportunity for a Head of Compliance at this Legal 500 multi-site law firm – suitable for existing heads of or a deputy looking to make a step-up.

Are you a seasoned compliance professional with a passion for upholding the highest standards in legal and regulatory practice? My client seeks a dynamic and experienced Head of Compliance to join our leading law firm. This pivotal role also encompasses the responsibilities of Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), (with other titles/responsibilities to suit the individual) making it ideal for a well-rounded compliance expert ready to take the lead in a highly professional and collegiate environment.

About the Role
As Head of Compliance, you will be responsible for overseeing and enhancing the firm’s compliance framework, ensuring adherence to all relevant legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. You will act as the firm’s MLRO, managing anti-money laundering (AML) obligations and ensuring robust systems are in place to detect and prevent financial crime.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the firm’s compliance strategy and ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Act as the firm’s MLRO, overseeing AML policies, procedures, and reporting obligations.
  • Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments across all practice areas.
  • Provide expert guidance and training to partners and staff on compliance, AML, and regulatory matters.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, including the SRA and NCA, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Manage internal investigations and respond to any compliance breaches or concerns.
  • Maintain and update the firm’s compliance policies and procedures.
  • Monitor changes in legislation and regulation, advising the firm on necessary adjustments.

About You
  • Qualified solicitor or experienced compliance professional with a strong compliance background at a law firm
  • In-depth knowledge of AML regulations and experience as an MLRO or Deputy MLRO.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
