Hays Accountancy & Finance are recruiting on behalf of a well-established and respected organisation in the third sector that is seeking a strategic and hands-on Group Head of Finance to lead its finance function. With a group turnover of approximately £5 million, this organisation plays a vital role in supporting communities across Northern Ireland. Your new role

• Produce monthly and quarterly management accounts for the group
• Lead budget meetings and challenge income/expenditure to ensure effective resource allocation
• Monitor financial performance and advise senior management
• Lead the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors
• Oversee payroll for approximately 150 staff (£3.3m payroll)
• Manage cash flow, credit control, VAT submissions, and statutory reporting
• Develop financial models to support new initiatives and funding applications
• Supervise a small finance team and contribute to strategic leadership
• Present financial information to the Board and senior stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies, including Companies House and Charity Commission

What you'll need to succeed

• Fully qualified accountant with significant experience in a senior finance role
• Proven experience in producing financial and management accounts
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Experience in payroll and commercial reporting
• Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills

• Experience with charity accounting and statutory accounts
• Familiarity with XRL reporting and accounting systems
• Knowledge of VAT, Gift Aid, GAAP, and payroll legislation
